Minnesota United are reportedly holding discussions with James Rodríguez about a possible transfer that would see the Colombian icon join Major League Soccer, according to The Athletic.
The 34-year-old is currently unattached after departing Club León and remains an important part of Colombia’s plans ahead of the 2026 World Cup, even though he has not featured in competitive action since late 2025.
Free agent situation
Rodríguez became a free agent following his exit from Liga MX side Club León and has been without a club since December. Should an agreement be reached, the veteran midfielder would become the most internationally renowned player ever to represent Minnesota United.

Despite limited recent club football, Rodríguez continues to be a key figure for Colombia as preparations build toward the 2026 World Cup.
