Liverpool are said to be prepared to battle fellow Premier League clubs in the pursuit of a leading Serie A creator this summer, while Arne Slot’s future could depend on whether he achieves one decisive objective before the season ends.
Although uncertainty still surrounds Slot’s long-term position at Anfield, planning for the upcoming transfer window is already underway, with Liverpool identifying key areas of the squad that require strengthening.
The forward line is viewed as a major concern, with Mohamed Salah’s future far from guaranteed and growing frustration among supporters toward Slot favourite Cody Gakpo.
Liverpool tracking Milan forward
Liverpool are reportedly monitoring AC Milan star Christian Pulisic, as doubts continue to increase regarding his long-term future at the San Siro, though competition for his signature is expected to be fierce.
Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb claims the USA international has been left “surprised” by the absence of a formal contract offer from Milan, despite negotiations appearing close to completion late last year.
Pulisic, who revived his career in Italy after leaving Chelsea in 2023, matches the type of energetic, high-intensity player Liverpool value and could thrive in Slot’s system at Anfield.
Under Massimiliano Allegri, the attacker has been outstanding this season, contributing 10 goals and two assists from 20 appearances.
The 27-year-old is capable of operating as a second striker or on either wing and would represent an ideal squad option for Slot, should the Dutch coach remain in charge.
Arsenal are also named as admirers in the report, while Tottenham Hotspur are understood to be closely monitoring the situation as well.
Milan are believed to be seeking a fee in the region of €55 million (£48m / $65m) for Pulisic, a figure considered reasonable for a proven international with Premier League experience who has rebuilt his reputation in Serie A.

Across 120 matches for Milan, Pulisic has recorded 42 goals and 25 assists in all competitions.
FSG reconsidering Arne Slot future
Liverpool are expected to place a ‘major question mark’ over Arne Slot’s future if the club fail to secure Champions League qualification, with owners FSG increasingly aware of the financial consequences of a disappointing campaign.
Currently, fifth place is projected to be enough for Champions League football, as it was last season. However, Liverpool sit sixth, following improved form from Manchester United and Chelsea after mid-season managerial changes.
Despite overseeing a troubled title defence, Slot is still reported to have the backing of Liverpool’s hierarchy.
Even so, Football Insider journalist Pete O’Rourke suggests the club is coming to terms with the possibility that missing out on Champions League football may become reality rather than a concern.
O’Rourke states that failure to qualify for Europe’s top competition, and the substantial revenue it guarantees, would force Liverpool to seriously reconsider whether Slot should continue at Anfield.
Put simply, not reaching the Champions League could trigger a managerial change in the summer.
The report does note, however, that Slot is not under threat of dismissal during the current season and will be given time to try to finish the campaign strongly.
Liverpool approve Jacquet surgery plans after injury setback
TEAMtalk sources have confirmed that Liverpool are ready to approve surgery for new signing Jeremy Jacquet after the defender suffered a serious shoulder injury, leaving Arne Slot frustrated by the setback involving the club’s £60m acquisition.
The 20-year-old completed his transfer on Deadline Day ahead of a planned summer arrival at Anfield, but that schedule is now uncertain as Liverpool await further medical updates.
The France Under-21 international picked up the injury after landing awkwardly in his side’s 3-1 defeat to Lens at the weekend, and sources say Liverpool have contacted their French counterparts to outline their preferred medical approach.
Liverpool have made their stance clear: if surgery is deemed necessary, they want it carried out without delay. Club insiders stress that the priority is a fast and decisive treatment plan to safeguard the player’s long-term development and prevent ongoing uncertainty.
Sources also reveal that Liverpool’s medical staff are working closely with Rennes’ doctors, sharing scans and reports while discussing the timing and most suitable surgical procedure. The club’s focus remains on ensuring Jacquet receives the best possible care and that his rehabilitation will be overseen by Liverpool once he makes the move to Merseyside.
