Bayern Munich were left reeling after ending the 2023/24 campaign without a single trophy. Bouncing back from that disappointing period and rediscovering their winning mentality required serious reflection and hard work. In the end, however, the Bavarians uncovered an unexpected source of inspiration during their triumphant 2024/25 Bundesliga season.
A cockatoo.
Sadly, it now appears Bayern may have already lost focus on what truly brought them success and, in the process, drifted away from their origins. Following a fortunate 2-0 win over RB Leipzig in the DFB Pokal, ESPN journalists questioned Bayern striker Harry Kane about the whereabouts of the club’s symbolic cockatoo.
In a surprising response, the England captain confessed he had no idea: “It’s somewhere. Danksey [assistant coach Aaron Danks] will have it somewhere. He keeps it safe. So, hopefully we will see it out again sometime.”
That must explain why Bayern failed to overwhelm Leipzig with a huge scoreline. Everything suddenly adds up. Bayern managed to escape unscathed on this occasion, but if the cockatoo does not make a timely return in future matches, it could have serious implications for their season.
